It's something I love doing with all my heart, and its something that I want to do for the rest of my life as a hobby and/or a career. I picked it up about five years ago, but I dont think I had the intentions of being a photographer. It was just me wanting a simple digital camera and wanting to take picture of things around the house, my friends, and myself. Eventually I branched out to taking pictures of landscapes, and thats when I started getting the more expensive camera, then the more expensive camera
the even more expensive camera, and then THE camera I have now. I had no idea that Id come this far and have as much skill as I do now. (Im not trying to toot my own horn, I promise.) [Side note, a lot of people, believe it or not, believes that the camera makes the man. No. Some of the worlds best photographers out there havent even touched an SLR/DSLR in their life. You can a have D3, but if you don't know what youre doing, youre just another person taking pictures. What IS true is that there is a point where your skill levels up so high, that it skyrockets past the level of your camera. This is the case with me, and Im sure it is with most photographers.]Now that Ive gotten more serious with photography, I feel as if I have to convey something in my pictures not only to everyone who looks at them, but most importantly, myself. To me, thats the gist what photography is, less some significant other factors. When I look at my very first pictures when I first started out, honestly, they dont mean a thing to me like they once did before. There wasnt a message behind them. They were just simple pictures that anyone could take with a point and shoot. Thats what separates photography from everything else. I wont sit here and tell you that every single picture that Ive ever taken imparts a message upon you, but I do have a few pictures that do, and those just so happen to be my favorites; the ones that mean the most to me. It took me awhile to finally consider myself a photographer (for those reasons above), and even now, I tend to question myself whether I am or not. I think I often tend to stray away from the very basics time to time and get carried away. Then again (hypocrite?), I am confident in most of what I do, and its something that keeps me in check. Nowadays I have people coming at me left and right, wanting me to take pictures of them, their siblings, significant others, an event
the list goes on. I guess thats something else that keeps me confident.
I hope that my camera takes me around the world.
